Seven thousand one hundred fifty-one new coronavirus infections were registered in Austria on Saturday. This was below the average of the past seven days, according to which 9,119 new infections were reported per day. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 population thus continued to decline, from 750.9 to 707.1. By comparison, 11,238 laboratory-confirmed new illnesses had been written a week earlier, and the seven-day incidence was 1,001.

There was also a decrease in the number of active cases. One hundred five thousand two hundred forty-three meant 6,125 fewer than the day before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 5,392,347 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in Austria. Since the epidemic outbreak, 5,266,213 people have recovered; within the past 24 hours, 13,276 were reported as recovered.

The number of deaths was revised downward from Friday’s report. Accordingly, AGES figures released Saturday showed that 20,891 people died of or with Covid-19, 89 fewer than Friday’s numbers (20,980). No deaths were reported Friday, compared with a seven-day average of 6.7 days, and 47 deaths have been recorded in the past seven days.
